A Touch of Class

Kate's first dance recital was May 27th. I would be lying if I didn't proclaim it to be the absolutely cutest thing I've ever seen. Seriously, I was crying it was so cute. What could beat little girls dressed in bright pink feathers and sequins?

Now for those who know Kate, she can be a bit bashful at times. I worried a little that she would get stage fright, and we'd end up with only a very expensive dress-up costume. However, she had a blast at dress rehearsal and the next morning woke up asking, "Do I get to dance on the stage today?"

We were only allowed to take pictures during the dress rehearsal and during the actual performance (a tap routine titled, "A Touch of Class") I was trying to videotape. Unfortunately the spacing was off during rehearsal and I had a hard time seeing Kate and my filming wasn't very good. Due to my videotaping stress, I have no photos of her dancing...but here she is at the Grand Finale, waving to the crowd. I didn't realize how small she was until she was with the rest of her class and she is obviously the smallest. But aren't they so cute?!!! I love it!!!

We were lucky and Grandma-Great Clawson was still in town so she was able to watch Kate dance. Uncle Michael, Aunt Caroline, and Grandma and Grandpa Barrington also came down. As you can see, Kate was showered with beautiful flowers, and she got a sweet teddy bear from Grandma Great that she just loves.

When Kate was finished, she said to me, "Mommy, I'm a star!" And she was...the sweetest little star of the bunch.

Now that you have seen the best, you can just forget the rest!
