Top of the Class

He's done it! Jonah is now officially a preschool graduate. Actually, it happened a couple of weeks back (May 26th to be exact) but I am obviously a little behind on my posting. The school had a little presentation by the kids which involved them singing a few fun songs and then came the presentation of the certificates.
Unfortunately, Jonah's teacher, Ms. Diana, couldn't be there due to a death in the family. We were really sad because she has been a great teacher and it would have been nice to give her one last hug. Of course, that would have meant even more tears to be held back by yours truly (I was choked up at every little moment!)
This is the next day...the last day of school. I had him wear the same outfit he wore on the first day of school. (Micah didn't believe I could remember, but how could a mom forget that?) Anyway, they celebrated with a little ice cream social and that was it.
Here's the crew sporting the silly sunglasses that Ms. Diana had left for them. Jonah's really going to miss his school buddies!
Upstairs at school with his punch balloon and glasses. Jonah didn't seem really sad to leave preschool...he is ready to move on to the big adventure of kindergarten!
Here's one last shot of Jonah in front of the school. I definitely won't miss having to drive him there every morning. We'll have a school bus next year (even though the school is only 1 1/2 blocks away!)
I feel very grateful that Jonah had such a fun, safe, and enriching environment for preschool. His teacher really loved him and it made him feel secure and eager to explore new things...something he's struggled with in the past. Again, here's another example of how mindful the Lord is of each of our needs. Jonah really needed this year at preschool to make kindergarten not seem so scary. It's hard to imagine my little baby headed to the big school (okay, so I'm starting to tear up again...)
Congratulations, Jonah!
