Lincoln's Birthplace...(Abe's, that is)

Last weekend we were lucky enough to have Grandma and Grandpa Shirts stay with us! We were so excited to see them since they live far away. They got to meet baby Lincoln for the first time and, like us all, fell in love with him. Perhaps in honor of our new little guy, we decided to visit Abraham Lincoln's birthplace. For those of you who have never been, it's basically a replica of the small cabin that A. Lincoln was born in, enclosed in a big stone monument. There is also a nice visitor's center (complete with a movie to watch and Lincoln logs to play with) and a spring that the Lincoln family used to use in the old days. The weather was great, and afterwards we headed to Glendale to check out the little shops and ate at the Whistle Stop Cafe. Jonah and Kate in front of the cabin.
Our family, with the monument in the background
Our Lincoln is a lot cuter than old Abe (although he's not a bad role model!)

That is so fun! I would love to take our Lincoln to some historical sites like that!

I've always wondered what that place was like. If you guys liked it we'll have to go. It sounds like a perfect way to take advantage of this great weather we have been having...as long as it lasts!!
