Tree-trimming Time

So Thanksgiving is over, and we are very grateful to have enjoyed a very yummy feast (and several meals of leftovers) with my parents, my brother, Michael, and my future sister-in-law, Caroline. The kids were very thankful this year (their words): Jonah for the Earth and Jesus, Kate for her family and princesses, and Lincoln for still being alive despite the crazy amount of "love" shown to him by his brother and sister (okay, so he didn't say that but I know that he was thinking it!) We are truly a very blessed family and are grateful for every new day...despite how crazy it may be!
With one holiday down, we excited pulled out the decorations and started getting ready for Christmas. Jonah has been begging to put up the tree for a couple of weeks now, so we finally did it this weekend. We've adpoted Micah's family's tradition of collecting Christmas ornaments on trips and special occasions. It makes it really fun to put them on the tree, because each ornament holds a memory and we tell the stories of where we got them and remember our past experiences. We have everything from a BYU football to a black bear from Gatlinburg to a sled that I made in school in 1987. They range from sillly and cheesy to cute and fancy and everything in between...and we love them all!
We felt that this year was a great success because we had only 1 broken ornament (Holidog from Holiday World last year--fixed easily with Krazy Glue) and 1 casualty (all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't have put that snowflake back together again). Not bad when a 5 yr old and 2 yr old are handling most of the ornaments! Our new additions this year: A Navajo doll from Arizona, a stork because I announced that I was pregnant with Lincoln on last Christmas day, a Beauty and the Beast dancing ornament (for Kate, of course), and an Abraham Lincoln memorial ornament for Lincoln. His baby's first is still in the works but don't worry, it will be on the tree soon.
We all had a blast trimming the tree and now all I have to do is put up all of the other decorations...(easier said than done!)
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Um, I'm pretty sure I have that same sled ornament. I love it. How fun that we were friends in elementary school and are friends now. I can't get over it. But how sad that we are so far away. :( Kate is such a cute little mini-Shannon. :)
