The kids were going up to sit on Santa's lap and Kate was scared. As the experienced lap-sitter, Jonah confidently tells her, "Don't worry, it's just a man dressed up in a Santa suit." And no, I didn't tell him that. Apparently, he simply wasn't fooled by the swoopy white mustache and stick-on eyebrows.
And speaking of Kate, although she may appear to be innocent enough, looks can be deceiving. I mentioned a few posts ago that we hadn't had any ornament casualties for the year. And then this happened:
This was once a stork representing that we told everybody that we were pregnant again last Christmas. I discovered it in pieces strewn randomly under the tree. Both wings are now broken off and the beak is chipped. Here's how the inquisition went down:
Mom: Ok, who broke the stork?
Kate: It was a accident.
Mom: What happened? Did you drop it?
Kate: Yeah. It was a accident.
Mom: It looks like you stepped on it, too.
Kate: Yeah...and then I pulled it apart. It was a accident.
Mom then proceeded to explain the definition of the word "accident." Yes, she may look like an angel, but there's a little devil on all of our shoulders--Kate's is obviously telling her to dismember unsuspecting Christmas ornaments.
Another Kate funny:
We had tithing settlement on Sunday night, so at dinner we were talking about tithing with the kids. Kate pipes up with "I know a song about tithing." Quickly going over all Primary songs in my head and remembering none about tithing, I asked her to sing it for us. Happily, she begins,
"We wish you a Merry Christmas, We wish you a Merry Christmas...Good tithings we bring, to you and your kids..."
Well, I guess that song is about tithing, isn't it?
We had a couple of snow days this past week, so we decided to go out and play.
I thought it would be fun for Lincoln to see snow for the first time.
Obviously, he didn't share my enthusiasm.
What's even funnier is comparing his face to that of Jonah in the winter of 2004 after a Nebraska snowfall. Check out the downward curvature of the lips...identical!
There's just something about that fuzzy coat that brings out the best in my boys. (I looked for a picture of a baby Kate in the snow...apparently I didn't subject her to such torture.)Time for everybody to smile again. What little angels...
Okay, so this is more of reality, but we deal with it.
And if all of that didn't bring out some jolly belly laughs, here's something no one can resist: a cute baby in a Santa suit. Now that's what I call Christmas cheer.

Those pictures of Lincoln and Jonas are amazing--it could be the same kid! And I love the stork story...she's such a smart girl.
What a great post! I love all the Christmas cheer. My Christmas wasn't right until that picture of Lincoln in the Santa suit. I hope you have a fabulous Christmas and a spectacular new year.
Hugs Hugs, Heather
I love that picture of Lincoln! He looks like a little baby santa you would buy off the shelf at the store!
I enjoyed each little funny drop of that post! I didn't know that Kate had it in her to dismember an unsuspecting bird! I love that with each response she gave you she included the part about it being an accident. We hear that our house a lot, too. I am finding it difficult to explain the difference between accidents and not accidents to Gracie.
