Totally TWO-bular

Lincoln turned 2years old on August 1st. Sometimes I just can't believe that my baby is so big! So, what is life like for this great little guy? Well, he LOVES the zoo so we went the day before his birthday to celebrate.
It was a hot one, but we didn't get rained on so it was a success! The animals were a little more active because we went in the evening. Our favorites were the gorillas and snakes this time. There were a few snakes at the Herpaquarium that were awake and moving around...which both scared and fascinated Lincoln. He's funny about animals; at a distance they are amazing but too close and he's outta there.

The kids even got to enjoy a birthday carusel ride. Lincoln chose the lion. Here he is with his signature wave.

Ever since Micah has been in the bishopric, Lincoln and Kate go to sit on his lap during the last song of sacrament meeting. I think it is the only thing that gets Lincoln through the meeting...he loves going up there. It is so cute to watch him "reverently" saunter up there and get on his dad's lap. Upon arrival, he promptly looks down at Jonah and I and waves. Every week. Everybody loves it; I don't think the meeting would be the same without it now.

Lincoln woke up on Sunday morning to a surprise: Elmo balloon! Elmo is his love right now. In fact, he's known to call Elmo is best friend. Every morning he wakes up and wants his "beebee" (blanky), sippy-cup of milk, and to watch Elmo's World. Actually, he wants to watch it all day long and of course, as a responsible mother, I can't let him have it on constantly. Of course it is pretty darn cute to hear him ask for it, ("watch Elmo's Wurld?") and sing the theme song over and over.
That morning had been crazy for us because we had to take Jonah to the ER due to severe facial swelling, which we learned later was a reaction to poison ivy. But things worked out and he came home to the party that awaited Lincoln.

Grandma and Grandpa Barrington, Uncle Michael and Aunt Caroline, and of course our family was there to celebrate. We had pizza and chips (some of the few foods that Lincoln will eat) some other yummy food, and of course, an Elmo Cake!

I had made Jonah the same cake when he was 2, so it was fun to do it again. From Lincoln's reaction, it tasted pretty good, too.
Ahhhh.....if only to savor it a little longer!

What we love about Lincoln:
--He is a talker and sounds so cute doing it. He seriously says just about everything, or at least tries to. Our favorties: "Mom, where are you?" and "Watch dis!"
---He loves being silly. He has this funny sense of humor and will laugh at everything and do silly stuff like dancing in the shopping cart or singing at the top of his lungs in the stroller just to get a laugh.
--His loves: bikes, bugs, animals, birds, books, candy, sports (especially baseball), the trampoline (he calls it "jump" and goes "boingy, boingy" when he's jumping), Elmo, and milk
--He is a terrible eater. Okay, so I don't love that but it's defintiely him. He is all about fruit snacks, Lucky Charms, Pop Tarts...anything sweet. We have battles over almost everything healthy. I think his milk gets him most of his calories.
--He loves "Nah-Nah" (Jonah) and "Yate" (Kate) and thinks he should be able to do everything that they do (we hear "My turn!" a lot)
--He is very independent and has started wanting to do it "myself" a lot.
--He has adorable curly hair
--He gives great hugs and kisses and will still snuggle with me. Yes, he is still baby enough for me!
The day turned out great and we partied until we were pooped. But hey, you're only 2 once so why not live it up!
We love you Linky...Happy Birthday!

It's so good to have a new post to read! I'm glad his b-day went well even though it didn't start out all that great, at least not for Jonah.

I don't care if this was the start of more posts or just a guest appearance - it was fun to read and see pictures of your family again here! Looking back to January - that's how I see Lincoln - this two year old??? where did he come from??? where have I been??? I thought he was young and wouldn't be able to do all the things you mention - but he's older than B was when Z was born - so it must be true! (: This year will even be more growing - busy age!!! What a happy cute little boy you have! (: Thanks for sharing your day!
