It finally happened. This past Thursday, the first day of kindergarten arrived. It was funny, because half of me wished last year that he could have started last fall. And although I was so eager and excited for him to be able to take this huge leap into the school world, when it came right down to it, it was dang hard to let him go. Having already experienced, Kinder-Camp, Jonah himself wasn't too nervous. The night before he had some butterflies, and we had a good long talk about all the "first days" we'd already had: Joy School, Preschool, even my first days as a kid. With as difficult as new situtations are for Jonah, I must say I was very impressed with his bravery. He did have a last-minute change of heart regarding riding the bus, so Micah stepped up and dropped him off for his first morning. Sunday, August 9, 2009

I can't believe he is in school. I will be in your shoes next fall with Wesley. Reading your post made me tear up! You are such a great mom far caring so much!
Way to go Jonah! You are a brave boy heading off to school! And Shannon you are a brave mommy!
Ah! The big day- come and gone! I'm glad it was "awesome". Why is it SOOO hard to let go? Seth has his first day in two weeks- he doesn't want to go, but I'm sure it will be easier sending a nine year old than a five year old. :)
I wasn't even there and I got a little teary eyed reading this! Maybe it's b/c I was thinking of Andrew going to school. That day makes me sad.
Good job to Jonah, I'm glad he like it!
Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!! That is so crazy...I also got teary eyed... He is so adorable and looks so excited. My mom always laughs about my first day of school. She says I just hopped said bye mom and hopped on the bus and didn't look back and she was standing there watching me... I can't believe you have a kid in KINDERGARDEN!!! Oh, and I think of Jonah every time I see wipeout. :)
